PMBELD301 – Butt Weld Polyethylene plastic pipes.

UEGNSG200 – Conduct butt fusion of large diameter polyethylene gas pipeline systems. 

PMBWELD302 – Electro Fusion Weld Polyethylene Pipelines. 

Course Overview

This unit will provide a sound knowledge and skill base for you to Butt Weld polyethylene (PE) plastic pipelines and to weld Polyethylene (PE) plastic pipes using Electrofusion. It also covers  Socket fusion of polyethylene pipe and fittings, saddle fusion of polyethylene service tee and polyethylene pipe identification.

This unit applies to experienced operators who are required to calculate appropriate welding parameters to be used, equipment setup, perform butt weld, assess joints against specifications.

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to butt Fuse large diameter polyethylene (PE)  gas pipeline systems. It includes preparing to weld polyethylene (PE) pipe, jointing, handling, construction, and welding polyethylene (PE) gas distribution mains and also applies to large polyethylene pipe diameter greater than 180mm.

Course Prerequisites

There are no entry requirements for this unit but participants need to be over 18 years of age and will be subjected to a pre-training review to confirm suitability.

Course Outcomes

  • Certificate of attendance for short course non accredited courses- (K-006)
