Course Prerequisites
Participants must be able to speak and understand English and provide suitable identification.
Course Overview
Working at Heights training course is suitable for any person who is required to work at any height. The course covers all aspects of safe access to heights, legislative requirements, selection use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (including correct use and fitting of safety harnesses), along with practical exercises of setting up fall arrest systems and the rescue of a suspended casualty.
Height safety training includes an overview of legislation relating to working at heights, introduction to hazards and risks, correct use of harness and recovery procedure for fall arrest.
Course Content
Theory component includes:
- Work at Height Regulations / PPE regulations
- Health and Safety at Work Act
- AS/NZ and EN Standards
- Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment
- Work restraint and positioning
- Fall Arrest
- Inspection and record keeping procedures
Practical component includes:
- Identification and inspection of equipment using samples
- The correct fitting of harnesses
- The correct use of ladders, lanyards, anchor straps
- The Gotcha Rescue System
- The correct and safe storage of equipment
Course Outcomes
By the end of this working at heights training course, participants will be able to: identify work requirements, identify work procedures and instructions for the task, access and install equipment, perform work at heights, clean up work area and rescue suspended persons. Satisfactory completion of this course will result in the awarding of a Statement of Attainment in the Nationally Recognised Unit of Competency RIIWHS204D Work Safely at Heights.
