FACE TO FACE - at your site (providing you have adequate confined space training areas, classroom resources and minimum 6 participants)

 

Course Duration

1 day (7 hours) without breathing apparatus training

OR

2 days (14 hours) with breathing apparatus training

 

Course Cost

$295 per person (GST free) - for 1 day course without breathing apparatus training

OR

$495 per person (GST free) - for 2 day course with breathing apparatus training

 

Course Prerequisites

Participants must be able to speak and understand English and provide suitable photo identification.

 

Course Overview

Our nationally accredited Confined Spaces Training course are designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to identify confined space hazards and work safely in confined spaces. The units of competency cover entering and working in confined spaces, work in accordance with an issued permit and gas test atmosphere; including but not limited to: planning and preparing for entry of confined spaces; entry and working in confined spaces, exiting confined spaces and cleaning up.

This course is appropriate for those working in confined space (enclosed or partially enclosed) for the purpose of carrying out work or inspections and is also appropriate for those performing sentry or stand-by person roles at work sites and provides participants with comprehensive understanding of confined space permit systems, the roles and responsibilities of standby personal and the safe use of personal protective equipment and gas monitors.

 

Course Content

Theory including Legislation, Confined Space Entry, Risk Management, Fire Awareness, Atmospheric Testing, Ventilation Testing, Safety Equipment, Rescue.

Practical:

  • Calibrating and using gas detection equipment
  • Use of confined space entry/ rescue equipment
  • Basic confined space rescue scenarios
  • Confined space work positioning techniques

In addition to the written assessment conducted, participants will also be monitored and assessed by the trainer throughout the practical session to ensure competence of each individual.

 

Course Outcomes

Each successful course participant will receive a Statement of Attainment in:

RIIWHS202D - Enter and Work in Confined Spaces

MSAPMOHS217A - Gas test atmospheres

MSAPMPER200C - Work in accordance with an issued permit

plus MSAPMOHS216A Operate breathing apparatus (if applicable - see 2-day course)

Confined Space refresher training is recommended at appropriate intervals as defined under Australian Standard AS2865-2009.

 

Other Important Information:

This course is only conducted in English, no interpreters or translators are permitted.

For courses conducted at our site:

Participants MUST wear their current work uniform or neat casual clothes suitable to a warehouse or construction environment and must also wear or bring STEEL CAP/SAFETY BOOTS OR SHOES (Entry to premises will not be allowed if you fail to bring/wear steel caps)

Participants may also bring their own hi-vis vest and safety harness if they have these items, otherwise Cobra will supply loan items for the course duration.

We provide filtered water, tea, coffee & biscuits during the course, however lunch is NOT included so you will need to BRING or BUY your own lunch from nearby shops. We do have a lunch truck that visits our site each weekday and we have a few fridges where lunch can be stored.

For courses conducted at YOUR site:

You must provide all required training equipment and resources (e.g. confined space, harnesses, gas detectors, breathing apparatus, together with classroom with table, chairs, white board, power supply etc).
